Health symbols

Bakers Delight has a range of health symbols accredited by Food & Nutrition Australia that help customers easily identify the health properties of each product. These symbols are located in our product search section, here on our website.

The symbols are continually reviewed to ensure customers are able to easily identify the health benefits of our products, assisting with appropriate product choices and demonstrating the company’s commitment to health and wellbeing.

The health symbols identify products which offer nutrients for a healthy heart, digestive health, weight maintenance, low GI, preservative free, and the goodness of wholegrains.

Wholegrains The vitamins, minerals and natural antioxidants found in wholegrains play an essential role in maintaining overall good health. By eating wholegrain foods regularly, you can benefit from fibre, B vitamins, iron, magnesium and folate. Products carrying our ‘wholegrain’ symbol contain at least 10% wholegrains.

what-we-bake-gi

Low GI A selection of our products have been tested to have a low glycemic index (GI). Low GI foods take longer for the body to digest, satisfying hunger for longer and providing a more sustained source of energy. Products with a low GI include wholegrains such as oat, rye and fruit bread.

what-we-bake-hifi

Hi-Fibre Lo-GI Eating plenty of high fibre, low GI foods can help you maintain your long-term health and make you feel good on the inside. Products carrying our ‘Hi-Fibre Lo-GI’ symbol contain around a quarter of your daily fibre needs and have been tested to have a low GI.

what-we-bake-digest

Digestive health Foods high in fibre keep you healthy and maintain steady blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Foods naturally high in fibre include wholegrain breads and cereals, fruit, vegetables and many seeds and nuts. Products carrying the ‘digestive health’ symbol have been tested to be high in fibre and meet criteria for saturated fat.

what-we-bake-heart

Healthy heart Our ‘healthy heart’ products meet the nutrition criteria for saturated fat, fibre and sodium. Foods that are low in saturated fat and salt and higher in fibre can help you maintain a healthy heart. These products include many wholegrain breads and cereals, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables.

what-we-bake-weight

Weight maintenance For overall health and wellbeing, choose foods that are lower in kilojoules, saturated fat and added sugars. Include fibre-rich foods like wholegrain breads and cereals, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds in your daily diet. Products that carry our ‘weight maintenance’ symbol meet set criteria for kilojoules and are low in saturated fat and sugar and are high in fibre.
