As a food producer I had been concerned about modern diet related health issues like diabetes, obesity and high cholesterol. 

I was awarded an agricultural Nuffield Scholarship and used the opportunity to research natural solutions to these diet related diseases. And studying in the USA when I learned about the amazing nutritional properties of Chia. 

After working with Australian food companies to research the opportunity for Chia as an ingredient to improve the nutrition of foods I founded The Chia Company to establish the world’s best supply system for Chia.

The Chia Company Chia is produced in the pristine Kimberley region of Western Australia. The Chia Company is 100% Australian owned and is now the world’s largest producer of Chia; providing a new industry and profitable crop option for the Kimberley region and benefitting the health and wellbeing of our community.

The Chia is produced by our highly skilled farmers, who work to balance best practice agricultural technology with the natural benefits of farming in the Kimberley. We grow Chia in harmony with nature utilising sustainable farming principles such as gravity fed channel irrigation, administered by hand with fresh water from the beautiful Lake Argyle. 

We manage quality at each step of the way and guarantee our Chia is of the highest standard. Each parcel of Chia is grown with complete traceability - right back to the paddock in which it was grown and individual parcels are subject to exacting quality testing.

The nutritional profile of Chia really does speak for itself - that’s why we call it ‘Natures Complete Superfood’. Along with providing fantastic nutritional benefits to consumers of Chia, The Chia Co provides a sustainable crop option for farmers in the north of Australia. We are all excited about Chia and, from our founder to our farmers, are passionate about Australian grown Chia’s potential to help raise the health of our communities.
